This koi comes out of last seasons Matsukawabake x Kohaku spawn and is a mere 20cm and 4 months old. It was a tobi and I have kept it see how far a tobi can go in size.

This next one is from a chagoi x doitsu midorigoi and is 19cm. There is a distinct tone difference.
This Utsuri turned up in a Matsukawabake spawn. It will be interesting to see if the sumi location remains set, or undergoes a change. The photo unfortunately does not show the ‘kage-like’ sumi. So in this photo it looks like greyish shiro. I will try to get a side shot sometime in the future as this unusual koi has white below the lateral line and the ‘kage’ above.
If I look into the origins of Utsuri, it shows a lineage that includes Matsukawabake and other members of the karasu clan.
